Our Top 10 Tips on getting the best out of your Mailchimp email marketing campaigns

15/3/2018

Do you have a list of clients that you have worked with in the past few months and feel you need to get in touch with them but don’t have the time?

A great way of staying in touch is through regular but not intrusive email marketing.  Let clients know about changes in your team, new products, offers or case studies.

YOUR MARKETING MESSAGES
  • Many of the most effective emails have one clear message. If you have lots of messages to get across, send them as separate emails but don’t bombard your subscribers with emails.
  • If you have more than one message to get across, make sure your most important message appears first – people skim read and may miss your key messages.
  • Use headings and bulleted lists to ensure you reach those people that skim read.
  • Tell your story in as few words as possible – keep it short and simple but include call to actions – “Buy Now, Sign up, Read our Blog.”  Tell readers what they need to do.
  • If you have a lot to say on one subject then add links (or hyperlinks) to the full content. Adding links to a page on your website is a great way of getting people to view your website - but make sure you send them to the right page – not the home page.

YOUR TEMPLATE DESIGN
  • Find a basic design that you like using the templates offered by Mailchimp and then use the drag and drop editor to create your own customised template design. Save it as a template and it can then be used again and again to create your regular branded newsletters.

THINGS TO REMEMBER WHEN DESIGNING YOUR TEMPLATE
  • Make sure you include your logo, contact details and links to your social media platforms.
  • Then check all your links work before you send it to your list of subscribers.
  • Your email can look different when viewed on different devices. View it on your computer, tablet and phone before sending it to your subscriber list.
  • Finally, people spend as little as 15 seconds reading marketing emails – so ensure your email only includes your key messages. If you provide too much information then your key messages will be lost.

If you have been thinking about “getting in touch with your client list” for some time but still not got round to it, then get in touch but make sure they have agreed to receive your e-newsletters - if not you could be in breach of GDPR.

If you need help in setting up your Mailchimp email account and branded template, then get in touch with Sunflower VA. We can then show you how to create your beautifully branded e-newsletters.
